Bush's Visit to China, Fruitless

TEHRAN -- The *** New York Times *** said in its yesterday edition that U.S. President George W. Bush's recent visit to China has had no considerable diplomatic agreement.
Despite the friendly and hopeful exchanges of views over the visit, the two leaders achieved no major diplomatic result, the paper added. President Bush left for home today after lecturing the Chinese people on the merits of liberty and religious faith and taking more than one opportunity to remind them that the United States is pledged to aid Taiwan's defense.
He did not waver on American plans to build missile defenses, and he urged China to halt exports of missile technology. He predicted the triumph of democracy in this Communist country. China's leaders could hardly have seemed more pleased.
